When I worked at Chi-Chi's they taught us about the Sullivan Nod, which is basically slightly nodding when you say something that you want someone to do. So, I'd say, "Want to go to Red Robin for dinner?" while nodding and then Alison is supposed to say yes.
I'd say it doesn't often work...

i have found that it often works the opposite way...like when you are at work and you don't want to talk to anyone...you just shake your head slightly while asking "do you have any questions?" 60% of the time it works, every time. but seriously, try it out. it works a lot.
